Hello,

I've got a problem which I've never had before.. When I write for example "tt" or "from" in the command window it says following:

"Command: tt
Unknown command "TT". Press F1 for help."

Command: from
"Command: _from
Unknown command "FROM". Press F1 for help."

And it is like that for most of the buttons in Object Snap.. It's a little bit annoying when I need these tools.

Anyone who knows how to fix the problem?

Or is it just to install AutoCad again? (As I said before, haven´t had this problem before...)

Thanks,
carlorjan (AutoCad 2007)

Hi carlorjan,

in 2004 it's the same. I think that's general. ACAD needs a "real" command like "_line", etc... first

Hello again,

It´s the same if I write the whole command or if I press the button for it.. So the whole palette object snap seems to be wrong in some way..

Hi,
What Exxit means is that you use the FROM while in another command eg Line, etc...

Object snaps are not COMMANDS. They are COMMAND INPUT MODIFIERS. You use an object snap to modify your next response to the command. For example, with the move command, when asked for a from point, you "modify" your NEXT input by choosing an object snap first (by ANY prefered method) then continue to your first input (usually the "from point" in our example). Without the object snap, your next picked-point "input" would be just anywhere you picked, EVEN REAL CLOSE to where you really meant (like an endpoint or something). If you didnn't modify your NEXT input by picking an osnap method (endpoint for instance) no matter how close to the end of the other line you picked, it would JUST be "real close". By modifying the input, you tell ACAD to read the actual coordinates of the "endpoint" of that other line, and use THAT as your input, instead of just close enough is good enough...

OSNAP is NOT used on its own. You won't get a proper response to your inputting the osnap, if a command isn't ALREADY RUNNING, and ACAD waiting for your response to the running command's next prompt.

I know I went a bit long, but you'd be surprised how many "experienced" Cadders, (NOT JUST ACAD !) don't have a handle on this critical issue! I hope this helped.
Good luck !
C.F.
