I'm haing a brain freeze moment. One of my users has got an assembly of gas springs which he is constraining to sketch curves, datums and axis to imitate the opening and closing of the engine cover. However when he edits the angle of a curve or datum to which a component is constrained, it moves, but the component doesn't. All the delay options are off in tools --> update, but still still the parts will not move. However, if i togle the constraint off then on again, it updates, also if I then go and switch on delay assembly constraints, then change the angle of something, I get the yellow exclamation mark in the constraints list which I can right click on and say update. So what I want to know is which setting have I missed which ensures a component will update when something to which is constrained is moved?

Many thanks

Si

Have you opened the Assembly with 'Partial Loading' toggled ON? If so, try toggling it off and reload the assembly and then try it.

Hi John

No, all parts are fully loaded and the load options are set accordingly.

Many thanks

How is this sketch/assembly structured? Is the sketch located in the main assembly file where the components are located or is the sketch in a component part of it's own?

I was not able to reproduce the behavior that you've described using NX 7.5.5.4 (see attached simple example). The only thing that would allow the sketch to update without the Assembly constraints updating would be to set the 'Delay Assembly Constraint Updates' option found on the...

Assemblies -> WAVE -> Associativity Manager...

...dialog, but you seem to already be aware of this so I assume that's not the problem.

I don't know what to say. Give my simple example a try (change the value of the expression 'Ang'

Sorry to interfere, i also have similer problem. If i update the part assembly constrainsts wont update.

need to redfine assembly constraints.[strangely if you select move it will show correct position]

need to run Tools- Update everytime .

the same assembly used to run properly for some time [without manual update] don't know what happened now..

ps - parts connected thru interpart expressions..
