Avoiding large deformation of thin bit

Hi all,

I'm trying to apply a tension to a part to look for stress concentrations. I'm using a negative pressure on a flat edge to do this, PSA image. My problem is that a part of this edge is thin, it deforms loads and becomes the most deformed bit of the model, which means the whole model is blue in the results and just this bit is red.

I'd like to be able to pull on the edge so it moves as one, as though it were stuck to something. I'd like the edge to move as a plane, but also be able contract, as though the material continued on and the tension was actually applied from further away.

Sorry for the poor explanation.

Alternatively, is there a way of changing the range that the colour bar in the results applies to?

Can you attach a picture of the whole model with boundary condition/load symbols ? Such spurious stress concentrations and deformations may occur when load is applied to points or edges of 3D models. Consider changing your modeling assumptions to avoid these problems.

Yes, you can change limits of the contour plot to cut off high values.
 
Was the model imported as stl ? Elements shouldn’t be shaped like that, with such high aspect ratio errors are inevitable. You have to generate good quality mesh before running this analysis.
 
It was imported as a STEP file (which was made from an STL file), I'll re-mesh with a finer mesh, thank you.
