I would like to know the minimum depth of partial joint penetration that is pre-qualified by AWS D1.6 for the following AISI Type 316 standard pipe sections:
3" pipe
4" pipe
8" pipe
I don't have the AWS D1.6 code (nor the AWS D1.1) to use as a reference or compare. A pair of 8" pipes, 4 ft apart, are used as structural columns, 25 ft high, braced together with the 3" and 4" diameter pipes to support an aerobic mixer platform in an oxidation ditch (wastewater plant). Thanks.
