I need to find specifications (hopefully free on-line download) for old steel beams, girders, and columns- for example a 20B59. I have structural drawings from a 1920's building in Brooklyn, NYC but no details. [The building is the St. George Hotel- which some of you may have visited years ago for a wedding or other event]. Thanks

I don't know of any downloadable information for old steel beams, but there is a book which can be obtained from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) entitled "Iron and Steel Beams 1873 to 1952", which should have the information you want.

(Or, if you have only a few sections to find, I can fax some pages to you if you get me the information).

AISC has actually updated it and it is now one of their Design Guide series books -
