B-H curves

hello everybody

google let me find your forum. I'm looking for B-H curves of different materials (standard materials for elecromecanical maschins). Is there a online database anywhere? or a good book?

The section in the ASM metals handbook that covers magnetic materials (seperate sections for hard and soft) has good typical data.
Looking for specific manufacturers is the way to get the info.

Any particular materials that you are looking for??

EdStainless: Probably exacly what I was looking for. I think it would be
ASM Handbook Volume 01: Properties and Selection: Irons, Steels, and High-Performance Alloys.
Unfurtunaty there are probably american and not europeen standards, but thats not really a problem. but kind of expensive... (and not in our libraries... have to search once again)
I'm looking for a material for a voice coil (hysteresis is no problem) with a high saturation that is more or less easy to mill. and it has to be a standard material (to avoid supplier problems in production).



 
Pure iron is the best but is not generally available. I use 1018 steel and limit the magnetic field to 1.2 Tesla. There are cast irons which are similar in magnetic chacteristics (ask Meehanite)and casting can save a lot of machining. Pressed sintered iron particles are another option.
 
hello sreid. I simulated with 1008 steel and reached good results, isn't there a material with higher saturation? I heard there are steels with saturations around 2.3T... I have magnetic field up to 2.1 tesla (= saturation). I can't reduce the field because I can't add material (=> weight / size)

Actually, I think that it is Vol.3, under specail purpose materials.
For small sized you can find 1002 steel. It is a special deap draw grade and works very well for magneitc applications.
