B8MNA or B8NA bolting minimum temperature

Good day,

i am not very familiar with ASTM standards. Where can i find the min. allowed temperature for bolts made of B8MNA or B8NA material?

Materials, like alloyed metals, are usually designated by (at least) two things; product form and grade or type. B8MNA and B8NA are grades, but the product standard is missing. This could be (and probably is) either ASTM A193 or A320.

What is your application? Your design code will determine the min. allowed temperature for these bolts. However, in any case, it needs to be clear if you purchase them to A193 or A320.

/edt: B8MNA and B8NA are both not listed under A320, so youre probably dealing with A193.

You are right. SA-193 is the standard. But i can not find any minimal allowed temperatures in it. Application is a valve body joint at around 100bar (CLASS 600) pressure.
The application also requires -50°C up to +450°C

Okay, where getting somewhere, but I still don’t know the important part; which code is this under? I’m assuming it needs to conform to the ASME product standard for valves, B16.34. Correct?
If so, do you own a copy if said standard?

Yes valve design should be according ASME B16.34-2013 and ASME BPVC Section VIII, Mandatory Appendix 2.
I own copys of it.

I assume you mean Sec VIII, Div 1, appendix 2?

I suggest checking the requirements from both mentioned standards first. Where or how does B16.34 incorporate VIII-1 app 2? Or is this an internal affair?

Yes customers require bolting acc. B18.34 but also want to have flange and bolting calculated acc. BPVC.
