Greetings;
we have three nutshell filters operating in parallel, their backwash is done periodically by water and scour gas, the water and gas mixture is evacuated towards a collection tank equipped by a floating skimmer with articulation for the oil recovery , the problem is that when we open the skimmer valve we find only water, after opening the tank during the shutdown we found the skimmer damaged and detached, the last time we removed this skimmer permanently. and now looking for a reliable way to recover the oil at this tank.
I would like to see your suggestions.

Many options.

Send the water from the tank through a titling plate separator?

Send it through a cyclone separator

Send it through a two or three phase separator?

Buy a better / stronger floating skimmer?

If you post the details of the tank then we might stand a chance here.

Remember - More details = better answers

Good idea, @LI. Replace with simple low pressure holding tank (or preferably a 50psig rated pressure vessel acting as a degasser-surge drum) and pump it through a set of hydrocyclones. Use low speed pump (1000rpm or less)-you'll need a Pd of some 4-5barg.
