Has anyone any info on the manufacturing process of ball swaging or ballising (possibly ballizing for the US!).

I'm intersted to learn of formulas and theory to the subject.

I want to utilise a ball swage process to control the transmission of loads through an assembly. i.e. to have a constant load slide if it reaches a certain value.

I think in my application ball swaging would work but am struggling to find info on it.

Thanks

MechPhil.

The use of a ball to size parts is similar to burnishing or cold forming in that you must exceed the yield strength of the material in order to resize it.
