Ballistic Impact on Curved Surface

Hello all, I made a post over a month ago asking about body armour modelling. I am currently in the process of testing ballistic impact on different types of surfaces before I carry it out on the body armour. I have posted my query on the FEA forum but was hoping someone on here might know how to help.

I managed to successfully run an impact analysis on a plate surface, but I always get the error "A general failure occurred during the solution process" when I try to solve for impact on a domed surface. I have attached images below. At first I used the dome on its own with the thickness at the back as a fixed support, and then with a plate behind it and its edges as fixed supports. Both the plate and dome are flexible, whereas the bullet is rigid.

The error report does not really give me much information. I even tried the simulation with a much simpler bullet design with a rounded rather than pointed tip. The bullet material is lead and dome's is aluminium alloy. I suspect I may need to place more constraints on the bullet geometry, but this is just a guess so idk. Note: geometries are imported from Solid Edge. Help would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks a lot.
