Can anyone tell me how to use the ballooning feature in ProE 2001. I'm just starting to learn the program and just need to get past this. Thanks.

Hi,
I guess it might be useful to know whether or not you want to drive the Balloons parametrically-off of a Bill of Materials or, whether you just want insert them as drawing objects (non-associative)?
If it is the former, you will first need to learn about Tables and Repeat Regions. If it is the latter, it is a "no brainer".

cheers,

JW

JW,

I'll need to do this parametrically so I'll concentrate on the tables and repeat regions.

Thanks.

cadranger,
If you can find some printed material on "Repeat Regions" you will be up and running in no time. There is some information in the 2001 pdf. help files. It is one of those Pro/E things; if I could sit down and show you, it would take ten minutes, if I try and type out the instructions here (in a concise easy to understand way), it will take me two hours!

cheers,

JW

We create BOM (with ballons only in exploded view) as follows:
1) Table, Create, Ascending
2) Make 5 columns 3,5,10,29, & 3 characters wide
3) Make 2 rows; 1 & 2 high
4) Enter Test: ID#, Level, Part No, Description & Qty
5) Repeat Region, Add, Simple in first row
Select left most cell & right most cell; Repeat Region
6) Enter Text, Report Sym
rtp..., index
rpt..., level
asm..., mbr... , name
asm..., mbr... , User Defined, (from our Interlink)
rtp..., qty...
7) Repeat Region; Update Tables
8) Attributes: No Dupl/Level, Recursive, Bin By Part or Bin by Component
9) Done/Return
10) Update Tables

Then finally ... Add Balloons into Exploded View
