Basal Heave Analysis

Hello All,
I am working on a "landfill" project, and want to excavate clays (lying below sands), and water table is high enough (above these layers), i want to know a procedure to calculate Basal Heave or safe depth i can excavate the clays with the consideration of shear force?

I'd suggest that you hire a geotechnical engineer to do it for you. Your situation doesn't appear to be 'simple' - best to go to someone who knows what they are doing.

Rockfield Software have a copy of ELFEN which can model basal heave with underlying layers of sediment/etc. Try and contact them on sales@rockfield.co.uk

I got one reference for you all to know, it is a book by A. Bagchi: Design, Construction and Mointoring of Landfill, Second Edition. He gave a good reference on Clay liner blowout.
