Dear Experts,

We have one weldment job and as per BOM, Main plate (AISI 4130 60 KSI) will be welded onto supporting Gusset plates (EN 10025 S335). Our our vendor has submitted WPS in which Base metals are: AISI 4130 7KSI X API 5L Gr. X65. Can we accept this WPS as per ASME IX w.r.t. material grade compatibility?

Any advice is highly appreciated.

metboss,
I had typed this response below on my (possibly mistaken) belief it was S355 - now I see it is S335 ?
Is that correct ?
If it is S335 (which I have never heard of) it will fall under my explanation in first sentence below.

ASME IX only recognises S355J2 & S355JR - if your material is not either of those two it is classed as an unassigned material (no P number) and requires its own qualified WPS.
If it is either of those two noted they are P1 Gr2.
API 5L X65 is also P1 Gr2 so no problem with the supplied WPS.

Sorry it was a typo error. It is Grade S355JR.

Thanks for your kind advice. We will accept the WPS.
