I have an automotive application. OEM "rubber" hose on this engine often fail. After several years the manufacturer replaced it with solid line. Earlier year owners often swap out the rubber for the later year solid. This is too involved for me right now, so i was just going to get the best high temp high pressure "rubber" hose and good clamps and inspect it often. Then i thought maybe some Wire braided hydraulic hose?

I know that then my end clamps would really be my weakest component, so maybe im going way over kill here.

In this application the hose is located between engine components with not much air movement and is also subject to pvc gases.

This is for rear VVT-i hose on toyota 2gr-fe engines which they use in many car models. Im dealing with a 2007 avalon which from what ive read is the most involved when replacing the entire line with solid. There are additional reasons that id rather not replace entire line now.

Thoughts?

Tks, pa

Parker 426 or Aeroquip FC234 hose (SAE 100R1AT) are suitable for all on-engine applications. If it's very near the exhaust, sleeve it with some AS1072 or ISO 15540 or equivalent sleeving. Good luck with fittings as those are often proprietary for this application.

If you plan on using hose clamps and such, hose that meets SAE 30R10 would be a choice, the pressure rating of the hose is 100 psi ambient but the construction is all Viton so the rating shouldn't drop too much at operating temperature. Use smooth band pinch clamps. Worm drive is no good at small diameters.

who makes the best strongest rubber oil line automotive hose? Best clamps?

Manufacturer isn't important, it needs to meet the appropriate specification. SAE 30R10 is the most heat and chemical resistant hose that is readily available and can be used with clamps. SAE 100R1AT had a higher pressure rating as it's wire reinforced but the jacket won't be as tolerant to exposure as the 30R10 hose and it can't be used with clamps.

I recommend Oetiker stepless ear clamps because the installation tool is inexpensive.
