Can someone tell me how i could link the base material of
a part to the partdiscription ?
In our factory we have discussed about 2 possibilities:

First possibility :
I draw a part and add the base material of the part into the property of the part.
for example :
Aloy L - profile : 60x60x6 mm - lenght 6000 materialproperty).
constructionlenght : 500 mm. (base extude of the part - also a property)
So in the bom i can link to those this properties.

Second possibility :
My colleague draws a part named Aloy L-60x60x6 ,lenght 6000 mm. (base buylenght).
He opens a assembly en drop the part Aloy L-60x60x6 ino it.
Then he makes assembly cuts on the part to become the constructionlenght of 500 mm.
So in the bom he link to the part to become the base material. and to the assembly cut to become the lenght.

Can someone give me his opinion about this?

I think I can do what you want.
But first, let me clarify what you're trying to do:
Do you want the BOM of your drawing to reflect the raw material used to make the part, not the finished part?
This is a simple thing do, just define the CUSTOM PROPERTIES DESCRIPTION & WEIGHT to reflect your stock material.

My gut tells me you want more from this.

Gimme some clarification and I'll try again.

If I can remember correctly you can use a hyperlink
or just a link to a database.

We used Access to link our BOM to our database.

I thought I could help you by inserting a BASE part into your part.
But it seems that using your assembly is the easy way to get it done.
If I come up with anything else, I'll let you know.

Hello TateJ

there are a lot of problems to inset the raw material into
the part as assembly.
did you see my mail that i've send to you?

1. How to make flat patern of an assembly?
Because the raw material is a plate for example
2000*1500*1.5 mm.
This raw material part has to be dropped into a
assembly and place the bend lines on the part.
But on assembly level you can't make bends.

2. how to make a pipe of 90 degrees started with a straight
pipe as raw material. dropped into a assembly ?

3. how to make in used parts?
If i want to start from raw material , i will have
external references.
Those references will give me a lot of errors.

can you think about this prolem and aswer me back
thanks

I can use CUSTOM PROPERTIES to define the raw material description...

I have a couple of parts to e-mail you.
Sorry, but I lost your e-mail address - e-mail me again and I'll reply today.

I'm not sure if this will be exactly what you're looking for, but it should get you started.

I have a part/assembly/drawing set for pipe with 90-degree bends that shows you one way to do what I think you're after. The design table in the part generates the cut-length for the raw pipe. THis drives a dummy dimension in the suppressed feature of the part, which in turn drives a custom property, which appears in the BOM. It has no factor for bend allowances or trimming allowance - as in the case of a bend too near an end to make without cutting off a bit after bending)nor is it set up for bends other than 90-degrees, but it shows you the general idea. Send me an e-mail address.

BTW: Can anyone figure out how to do this without creating a suppressed dummy feature? I tried just using a dimensioned line in a sketch, but the dimension couldn't be driven from the design table - there had to be a feature associated with it.

We are currrently having a department conflict about htis very issue. My understanding of what you are trying to do is to create process drawings, not part drawings. Is that correct?
What is happening is a contrast between engineering needs to design something and production needs to control a manufacturing process.
We have only been able to move forward on this issue by first defining our terms and goals.
