We have need for a software package that will place beam calcs and the moment/shear/deflection results on a single sheet. It needs to do channels also.

Does anyone know of software that will do this. RAM Beam does not.

I don't know how complex a structure you need, but look into Enercalc. It's more for componenet design, not full structures, but it does print output similar to what you're asking for.

Yes, Risa is great, 3D is awesome, there is also RAM, while the load generation is easier, it is a bit locked in in the method it allowes you to model

Risa 2d is the best steel analysis software out there, IMO.

Enercalc is OK.

Risa 3d has too many things to worry about for standard design.

Ram works good for box buildings, but who does those anymore.

We use STAAD.beam. It seems to be very powerful and does composite beams, checks for vibrations, considers web holes and gives a full detailed set of calculation sheets that shows you how they did the design. We bought an entire site license for like $500 so it was cheap as well.

Go to They just got bought out by Bentley so I am not sure if their website changed.
