Beam to girder connection 3

Why is it that most steel beams design examples that I read through have the steel beams framing into the girder with a connection?. Why not make the beams continuous, where they rest over the girder without the need for a connection for every beam framing into the girder? What am I missing? Is this because of the steel sections' standard length only?

Sidenote, I don't have any steel project currently, I am just learning.

Because we don’t want every level in a structure to be 2’ taller, by using your approach.

 
Yeah I'm with clearances. And member lengths do come into play as well. Around here, 65 feet is the longest you can ship, and those are a bit of a bear to manipulate on site. There's a butter zone between piece length and number of pieces that you need to try and hit.

The other reason I can think of, now your beams have negative moment that you need to either upsize for, or brace the bottom flange for, to keep your everything working. Additional braces take at least 2 connections and tend to get in the way. And upsizing the beam just to eliminate 2 connections may make some sense, but once you account for the lost head room, and more awkward shipping and handling, I'd bet it's a wash.
