Dear All,

Let me ask you the following question about ansys. I have imported a shell model from solidworks to ansys 14.

Is it possible to attach a beam to my model using the DesignModeler ?.

Best regards,

Hi Ezequiel,

It is possible, but it all depends upon your geometry. Setting this up on design modeler will be key if you are using Workbench. Import your model, then build the rest of your geometry and attach it. Of course, your license may not allow this - if so, convert your solid works model to a neutral geometry such as .step (which should carry the most details) or a .sat file. Then it should be easily imported.

Just be warned that you need to be detailed and careful with your linking areas. They may be the cause of a meshing issue for you if you are not.

Good luck,

Kherszal
