Hi Forum,
beam3 and beam188,
i get strange results, when modeling with those elements the same line geometry.
for instance
model 1)
a strait line length 1un. meshed with 100 beam3 elements.
if i select nodes at .4<x<.6, then aply force to all selected nodes (say FY=1)
model 2)
on the other hand if i do exactly the same but this time with 100 beam188 elements,
select the same location nodes, and aply the same force.
after solving, i find the reactions (fy) are different. the beam3 reactions seem right, but beam188 reations seem erronious.
aperantly, same of the selected nodes (with beam188) don't get loaded. more precisely the equivelent node count should be:
nodes_beam3=(nodes_beam188+1)/2, those are the nodes that the force get aplied.
bellow, you'll find pics for both loaded models and the apdl file.
the question:
is ansys apliing the load in the direction node, and then not transfering it the load to the model?
if so, how came the stress seems correct?
