I'm a Mechanical Engineer trying to calculate an easy eccentric bolted connection in a lifting lug.
The problem is the bearing stress.
Case 1: We will have a failure by bearing in the connections between the shackle (1) and the hole (2).
Case 2: We will have bearing problems between the bolts (3) and the main structure (4).
For case 1: Pn = (1.8 * Fy * Apb)/2 Per Steel design William T Segui.
For case 2: Rn = 1.2 Lc * t * Fu <= 2.4 * d * t*Fu Per Steel design William T Segui.
I really don't understand how this equations are so different?
I appreciate you help.
