hi.

i have a situation where i need to determine the pressure under a square footprint load applied at the surface of the soil.

I am interested in the vertical pressure at roughly 1 to 1.5m beneath the square pad. (using boussinesq soil theory).

The square pad is susecptible to vertical load and this vertical load is dynamic (dyn factor approx 1.2).

Would the dynamic factor be applicable when determining the pressure at 1 to 1.5m beneath the load.? or should i use static load only.?

thanks

Generally, dynamic/impact loads don’t need to be considered for buried portions (footings). The theory is that the surrounding soil will absorb the dynamic loading. Check whichever code you are using.
