For a pump working at 2970 rpm, 583 m3/hr and 21.54m head, I’ve selected ball bearing for thrust bearing and rolling bearing as radial bearing but the vendor proposed sleeve bearing. I am not familiar with this type. Could anyone explain the use of sleeve bearing and give any experiences about its failure frequency?
P.S. The vendor has also proposed sleeve bearings for electrical motor.

Did you get your pump head correct at 21.54m.? Unlikely you need to run at 2970RPM for this low head. If it is correct the motor power will not be more than 55kW. you can't get a motor at this power with sleeve bearing.

Sleeve Radial and Ball Thrust
• Applied to energy density
(=power x rated speed) ratings
of 4.0 million (=kW x rpm) or
5.4 million (=hp x rpm) maximum

It is best to leave the choice of bearing to vendor as they have tested and experienced with their pumps.
After all they have to guarantee the pump performance.

Thank you Pumpsonly for you respoce.
