I have an externally generated requirement to provide belleville (spring loaded) washers in my piping system. I haven't used them in the past, but passed along the requirement to my subvendors. (B31.3 piping - hydrogen service)

I have a supplier who's objecting to providing them on the grounds that the high temperatures (580C / 1075 F) would affect the spring properties and reduce the preload over time.

I see they're available in high temperature alloys, so I would think that if this were a concern we could get around it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

We also used the X750 material without problems but it was VERY expensive. We checked some of the washers after they had been in service and, aside from initial set, they seemed unchanged regarding predicted load vs deflection.
