Good day all,

Studying right now the architecture of a BEMS and HEMS system, I was wondering which are the best communication protocols/interface for a BEMS system with an HVAC?
The first one to come in mind is an OPC server, but since is an expensive method, I was wondering if there're more of them?
Thank you

Alain

BACnet has become a well-accepted standard in BEMS. Many also use Modbus, and there are a few proprietary standards out there. At the device level, LONWorks is still in the game... We don't see OPC or any of the non-Modbus industrial protocols in the business.

Best to you,

Goober Dave

Hi Dave!
Thank you very much for your fast reply!.
All those communication protocols you mentioned work only in a PLC's lever, I was wondering to a higher level, which, after looking everywhere, the most common used is OPC and almost no other alternative is used.
Thank you again and have a nice day!

Regards,
Alain
