Best book for >>Strength of Materials<< stress reference

Hi All,

I am looking for a book rather with tables than theory, covering strength of materials such as e.g. some particular section shape with loading and corresponding stress visualization, etc.

Well-known Roark's formulas is an extensive reference but it does not provide practical assistance on stress visualization, etc...

What books are you using on daily basis in your engineering practice, which find you helpful?

I'm not aware of one. Do you have access to a FEA program? You could build some general shapes that you're curious about and run the program, then do hand calcs form Roark's to verify the output. Use unit loading or something easy. Then you can print them out and have a quick reference to remind you of general stress distributions for typical loading. Or, after running several, you may start recognizing patterns and not need to print them.
 
I have access to FEA. I am rather looking for a book reference. E.g. how would normal and shear stress distribute in a section 'ring-like' with a discontinuity cut at wall thickness, depending on the type of the load, etc...
 
In the future, please refrain from posting in multiple forums. Would a Stress Opticon or similar photoelastic method be of any use for you, or do you have too many desired cases for that to be practical?
 
OK, I may delete this thread to clean things up. Thanks for contribution and heads up.

No, photoelastic methods are outside interests. I guess what I am looking for is a really good book on 'Material Mechanics' or 'Strength of Material' which however will be something more advanced than typical textbooks written for engineering students.
