Hi everyone,

I am designing a RAM model that will incorporate some brace frames. My question is is there a optimal way of laying them out for best efficiency? Please view the screenshot to get a better understanding of my question. I have 2 bays with the single brace. Should I have one of the bays have the braces in the other direction?

Please let me know if you need clarification.

Thank you!

Are you allowing any compression in the braces, if so, can you use X-bracing with the braces attached in the middle. If you are allowing some compression... likely 30% to 40%, does it have any impact on your foundation loading?

There will be compression in the braces because it is not a X brace, it is in separate bays. I believe there is no impact as the loads are all accounted for in the same way whether the braces are diaganol in the same/opposite direction.

I am not sure if it impacts my foundation.
