Best C-scanner for porosity analyses

Dear all,
I'm interested in acquiring a C-Scan for carbon composites NDT. Our main issue are porosites within the laminate, mainly at the core of "T" joints. To do so, I believe we need an immersion (or jet projection) C-Scanner, but I'm not an expert on this field.

I would appreciate if you can comment on the following instruments:

1) TecScan (

3) Sonatest (

I also heard about laser ultrasound but have no much info on such instruments.

Hey Allcomposites,
I'm no NDI expert either but interact with the group every day. In my work with commercial aero T-stringers, radius filler areas (or noodles) are exempt from inclusion or porosity detection requirements.

I don't know of a method to inspect with ultrasonics as the geometry isn't suited. Technically I think it's possible though.. but again NDI isn't my role. Our equipment is custom; can't really speak about it but it's similar to what you've referenced.

We had a problem with our fillers that was corrected by increasing the overfill.

Thanks Dan for shearing your experience. I'm organizing a benchmark to properly choose the equipment. Will give feedback after testing.

I will be really interested into your feedback after testing. I am considering a few NDT solutions as well and should be trying Infra red imaging in the next few days (I am using sandwiches of small thickness)
