Best practice for installation of stop check globe valves

Just wanting some opinions on the installation of check valves, more specifically, Stop/Check Globe Valves. The project I am currently on we have, with the blessing of the client, installed swing check valves in the vertical position, flow up off course, which I am not a fan off, but now I am seeing stop/check globe valves in vertical piping. I know what my feelings are about that, just want to get some more opinions.

What type?

What I mean is there are two types when you google these - "standard globe valves with moveable plug and ones more "axial" in shape.

It is your standard looking globe valve with moveable plug. As an example: 3" Bronze Flanged, 250# NAVSEA Stop Check Globe Valve, You can see a typical one in the W&O Supply Catalogue.

OK, just checking.

The "normal" practice is clearly horizontal with vertical stem if you have one fitted.

The risk is the plug getting stuck or misaligned when vertical and/ or more wear/ higher force onto the stem during operation.

I would get clearance from the vendor before installing such a valve vertically.
