best practice on how to "Deform" a reuse part

Hi -
In my company I am asked on how to get a "flat sign" from re-use library - how to make different instance of this flat sign - but in various shapes, so it can fit to different surfaces..
This surface(s) typically selected from the NX designer.....
I'm thinking of a NXOpen custom tool - could be the solution...maybe the feature Global shaping can be part of this.....
(I'm developing a lot of custom NX tools (NXOpen API) - but in this case I'm a little challenged...)
Use case is: In re-use libary a NX partfamily is created - containg some NX parts - typically a planar rectangle as solid body - with some text engraved...
When this family member is dragged into an assembly - the NX designer shall be able to deform the instance of this member, so it will fit a selected surface...
A promotion can be an approach I think....
My question to all of you:
Have anyone of you being involved in a process like this...? if so - I will look forward, if you can share some interesting about this issue....
