I want to say that someone commented on this in another thread. But, I can't find it right now, so I thought I'd post it here in a new thread.

Essentially, this latest experiment generated more power than the power that went into creating it. That's a pretty big step. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe fusion is generally believed to be "cleaner" than current fission reactors. At least in terms of what sort of waste is created from the reaction.

You have made it very clear that your political affiliation is Marxist.

LOL, you probably should read Das Kapital then. I have, and it is actually a very good critique.

Don't worry, touching the cover won't convert you into a communist.

Can we try to keep the politics out of this thread?

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

ideas or opinions I've presented here for consideration

IM, I don't have problem with your politics (whether you have them or not). The issue I have is that you seem to think that you've actually presented ideas and opinions on this thread. All I've seen is the following behavior which seems like you're just yanking our chain and trolling the rest of us:

a) Accuse people of attacking your character or undermining your credibility.
b) Pretend not to understand things that are self-evident (like nuclear energy has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions and help solve the global warming issue).
c) Make fun of another forum member for a typo (or poorly worded sentence).
d) Some rants about mythology and entropy that don't seem all that relevant.
e) Various other posts where you appear to be thumbing your nose at other replies with cryptic one line non-sequiturs.

As much as I have quarreled with you on various subjects over the years, you seem to have taken an odd turn these days. Much darker and much less coherent than you used to be.

Are you feeling okay? Seriously, do you need someone (obviously not me) to reach out to you and check on your well being? Is there someone close to you that you can reach out to that can tell you whether or not you need to get serious help?

According to BBC news, the UK test was to check some design feature of the ITER being built in France.
The UK one can only be run for 5 seconds as the magnetising coils get too hot. ITER will have superconducting cooled coils.

Politicians like to panic, they need activity. It is their substitute for achievement.

Understandable. 10x the temperature of the center of the Sun is pretty hot.

Keep the faith.

How about we bring a little courtesy back into play in this thread.

Thank you! I completely agree.

Ironic Metallurgist (and really all of us on this thread) -

As the OP of this thread, I will respectfully ask you to keep any posts here relevant and on-topic. No more personal attacks or accusations please. And, that applies to EVERYONE.... Even if you feel you have been provoked.
