Well all! Haven't been on the site recently - on May 20th the wife and I flew to Dubai for a family reunion. My son from the Maldives was there on business and his family - wife and two sons - were coming out to visit - being only 3 hours away it was a no brainer to go. When we arrived, we were gobsmacked as our daughter from Bsngkok was there too!!! WOW.

So had a great time - my son and I met up with a fellow Cornell fraternity brother and he took us to "Meat Inc." - a steak house. It was very good. The steak only - filet 300 g was 420 UAE (USD 120) - fries were extra! He and my son split a T-bone - 700 UAE - they have a wall of knives - saw the one that belongs to Tiger Woods. McIlroy, the golfer, was also there as was Serena Williams. Very good steak though - and he paid - even better

Then it was time to fly home to Tajikistan. Go get our pcr test (covid) and my wife was "detected" although I and my daughter were not. Decided to get the daughter out of Dubai and back to Thailand. My wife went into 10 days isolation - they gave her heavy doses of anti-viral and 50,000 mg D3 pills (1x per week). I went into isolation too - but not strict. Then I knew I'd have to fly out - so I went to get tested again (loss smell) and was "detected" - so 10 days of total isolation for me too. Our daughter ended up during her 15 mandatory isolation to test positive and then get transferred to a hospital for 15 days. During this time, too, our 9 year old grandson tested positive although his dad, mum and LittleH did not.

So - in short - a great first week - and then isolation! Luckily the Hilton was very cheap as had to rent out two rooms for my wife and me.

In the end, none of us were "sick" - my wife and I lost smell for 5 days or so - but no fever, not headaches, no BigD or any other of the symptons. So 1 week planned and 3 weeks added.

Also glad you have recovered BigH!. I have been living in Dubai for 3 years now. I have been to Meat Inc. very good steak. The food in Dubai is amazing. So many cultures so lots of variety. If you are ever back again then let me know!

Back in July last year, my wife and I were close contacts to a confirmed covid case so had to isolate for 10 days, then back out and one week later we said we would treat ourselves to a hotel staycation. A few days later my wife started getting symptoms, high temp, headache, sore throat, cought. She tested positive then I did a few days later too. I had the same symptoms only milder. Another 10 days isolation!.

We have both luckily been vaccinated with Pfizer since.
