Hello fellow engineers,

I want to use FEA software to simulate an artificial aortic valve in a bioreactor. I have read that the best way to approach this type of simulation is to apply Fluid-structure interaction with the immersed boundary method to model the valve (structure) and blood (fluid), and then use an explicit solver like LS-DYNA to run the simulation.

As I understand, I need to generate a model in a preprocessing software (like LS-prepost or hypermesh,) which contains the meshed geometries and boundary condition of the problem, and then import this preprocessed file (a .k or keyword file) in to ANSYS's Workbench LS-DYNA module to solve. I've done some preprocessing examples, and can not figure out how to import the .k files in to ANSYS. I also am not sure where and how to implement the fluid-structure interaction and immersed boundary methods in the simulation. Would these be applied in the preproccessor, or after the model is imported to ANSYS?

I'd greatly appreciate any advice on how to go about setting up this simulation, or a recommendation for pertinent learning resources. I have experience using more common ANSYS modules (Structures and Fluids) and have taken classes on the math behind implicit FEA analysis, but have never studied explicit methods.

Thanks in advance for your help!
