BIW production cost

Hello everyone,

For the BIW production cost, we know it depends on many factors, such as material cost, manpower cost, etc. Also, in the different countries and companies, the cost is different.

Could we just give some numbers roughly for A, B or C class BIWs?

a class say 1500$ max is my guess. tata sell a car for twice that.

Field and Clark from MIT have used Technical Cost Modeling on automotive body-in-white alternatives (ULSAB, Al-intensive structures, etc.) and have published results of case studies. The first several hits from the Google search below should be helpful. Greg is right, $1500 max for A class, ULSAB was ~ $1000.
