I have a block in some drawings that only shows in the dxf file
and when I run the (BLOCK) function from the TABLES.LSP

This is the result from the (BLOCK) function

0 0.0000,0.0000,0.0000
TEXT on layer 88 with color 6
LINE on layer 88 with color 6
LINE on layer 88 with color 6
LINE on layer 88 with color 6
LINE on layer 88 with color 3
LINE on layer 88 with color 3
LINE on layer 88 with color 3
LINE on layer 88 with color 3
LINE on layer 88 with color 3
LINE on layer 88 with color 3

We are a small engineering department and I do not have the time to write a lisp routine to kill this block off.

Does anyone know of a routine or program that can take care of this.

Thanks,
Rod Uding

Hi,

What you can do is keep a copy of your drawing and make a Wblock * your drawing to a new drawing. This will get rid of any non-used blocks. It's similar to a purge.

Hope this helps,

I have tried that and it does not work. Apparently since the name is blank in the table, AutoCAD does not see the block and
will not get rid of it. So, the block is defined and carries
the useless layer around and I can't get rid of it by conventional means. This points me at some kind of progam. Also, we are stilling using R14 which means Autodesk will not
give us any support on this.

Hi,
The method
Wblock *
gets rid of any non-used block or layer. If your block is inserted, should be viewable. Unless it has hidden attributes with no value or contains text with only spaces.
Why don't you send me a copy of your drawing if want me to figure out on that?
Try to reach me at gil_roberto@hotmail.com.
I'm still using acad14, too.

Roberttx.
