Is anyone aware of any actual standard(s) that cover the requirement, if any, of installing blast walls between two or more substation transformers? I'm looking for specs re. minimum distances before they are required and/or recommended. If they are required, what sort of force/overpressure must they withstand?
My specific application is two 21/28/35MVA 115000:12470 transformers installed 49' (on center) apart in a legacy substation. There is no blast wall at present. We are replacing one (since it dates back to 1930!), and someone wants to install a masonry blast wall between them as part of the project. Unfortunately, that would also block an access road within the substation.
