Hello,
We are facing Boiler Stack Corrosion. In 2006 we have installed new stack of boiler , but in recent year due to increase in sulphur content, stack plates are are getting corroded severely. We have plan to replace defective portion of stack. This time we are considering to apply lining or coating inside stack to reduce corrosion and increase life of stack.

Is there any suitable coating/lining that can be applied inside stack to avoid corrosion. If yes what is name, thickness recommended and specification of these coatings.

Diameter of Stack: 1350 mm
Stack Plate material: ASTM A 283 Grade C
Flue gas temperature entering in stack: 250 Centigrade

Regards,

Dear Wsaif,

Don't you think that once you apply castable, you have to check the design of the foundations. Were you expecting some painting to take care of the corrosion?

Regards.

Dear Dhurjati Sen:
We have check all the process parameters and application of coating or even refractory of 2 inch thick is not impacting on process parameters and foundation.

We still have Heat resistant paint applied at external surface of stack, at internal surface will heat resistant paint resist corrosion attack due to sulphur content?
