Hi,

I sometimes watch the Youtube Streams of the Starbase development for fun. These days they are erecting the Starship Orbital Launch Tower.

I had a few questions in regard to the bolts in the connections of the columns:
- Are they tightening the bolts in threaded plates?
- Does such a connection need to be friction connection?
- Is the axial compressive force in the column considered to go through the bolts, or through the contact between the upper column and the lower column?

I was surprised to see that type of connection for a box column. I would have expected a flange-plate connection like this (but with more bolts, with stiffeners, box column instead of HSS, etc.):

The base looks bevelled. Maybe it's welded and the bolts and plates are just for locating it.
