Which do you use? First time i ever heard it, it was spelled out as B-O-M so it stuck with me. But I do find people that say BAWM.

I try to avoid bawm, especially when transitting through airports.

I have used both, including pee-elle.

Have you read faq731-376 to make the best use of these Forums?

I like to say "bill of material"... and if plural "bills of material".

If the "b" is silent, isn't it "om"?

A parts list and bill of materials aren't necessarily the same thing.

On a drawing it's a Part List, in an ERP system or similar it's a BOM.

In many cases they match but in many cases the BOKM is manipulated to suit other factors.

Fair nuff Zdas, let me reprhrase:

"I say it like "Bomb" too, with silent b at the end."

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at

uGlay,

I guess I'm the only one with you, I've always spelled it out.

When talking with myself, I always spell out the acronym unless someone else has used it verbally.

That creates a huge problem here at Boeing because everything is an acronym. So I'm simply reading letters to myself half the time.

I find most other people try to invent words out of acronyms but it really bugs me because they are adding or subtracting letters that aren't there.

For example, "bomb" has a b at the end and there is no second B in BOM. "boom" has two o's. "Bill of Materials" is correct as is "B-O-M".

Alas, I'm in the minority here and I'm not recommending you do it, but it's what I do.

People is starting to bring bulletproof vests to MRB meetings. Imagine the mess, people duck & cover at the sole mention of the... ¡BOOM!
