Bond Strength Plain Vs Deformed Bars in Concrete 3

The bond strength in concrete of a deformed bar generally will be much higher than a smooth or plain deformed bar.. Is this really true? We are about to conduct pull-out tests, but some people suggests that plain bars will have higher strengths..ironic!! Your comments pls

Deformed bar bond strength is not only better, but more consistent. It is less dependent on mix characteristics and on abberations that might occur during construction, such as foreign material on the surface of the rebar. You get not only the "chemical" bond of cement paste to steel, but the mechanical bond of the deformations.
