When terminating SWA cable glands into painted metal gland plates, traditionally we use brass earth tags with individual single core cables to an earth bar, this is not a problem in distribution panels put can quite easily over fill an earth bar in a distribution board.

What do others think about using double sided serrated washers to maintain a good metal to metal contact with the panel gland plate, & taking one single core earth cable from the gland plate (sized to match the largest cable)?

My main concern is weather or not there is enough metal to metal contact not to restrict current flow during a fault?

Thanks in advance

Alan

The gland plate should be bonded in any event...

re the glands, we also wire link the tags to the earth bar but we daisy chain them so only one connection is needed at the earth bar
