Hi all, I am a researcher and am conducting research about bone tissue modeling, biomechanics, and FEA. I am good in doing experimental setups. But, I don't have much experience in conducting computer modeling in such major.

I am working to model bone tissue (both cortical + trabecular ) with a certain technique. The literature say that bone geometry can either be obtained from:

CT scan or,
Drawing using CAD softwares!

Please, it will be greatly appreciated if you can address this inquiry: which of the above mentioned methods is the best to obtain bone geometry for accurate modeling?

Thank you.

It depends :)

Which bone geometry are you interested in and what is the application? What is the goal? How do you plan on validating the results of the model? What experimental data do you have available?

IceBreakerSource, thank you for your response.

I am working on modeling the bones of ( subtalar joint ) located in human foot and ankle. Specifically, Talus and Calcaneus. The experimental data that I have are from applying torsion load on the joint. I want to create a model that simulates that ( applying torsion load on the subtalar joint )!

Any ideas will be great!

Thank you again ...
