Books & information on flow needed.

I am looking for suggestions on what books or manuals I can purchase to teach me how to analyze flow in ducts (round and rectangular or other shapes).

I need to be able to look at a system and determine the flow losses and thermal losses. I am looking to figure out what the flow output will be for each outlet in a system and what the temperatures will be when the air gets to each of the outlets.

I need something that is going to be easy to read and understand. I would also be very beneficial if there were good examples in the book to follow thru. Please if you have any suggestions please let me know.

SMACNA's duct design manual is elaborate and excellent. You will find lot of worked out examples also. But the book is very expensive.

If you become a member of ASHRAE with 140USD/year, you will get one handbook per year and monthly ASHRAE journals free. It is worth the payment.

As far as thermal losses are concerned, it is an ideal assumption that, incase of well insulated ducting, the temperature remains constant (ignoring heat loss from the duct). There will not be any change in temperature due to flow division.

 
Interesting. How expensive is that book?

I can get my hands on ASHRAE documents basically for free thru work.
 
What air velocity, altitude, pressure and temperature ranges will you be looking into?
 
Well I would like to start out at seal level and learn from that point on. Eventually I would like to be able to look at various conditions at different altitudes.

Air Velocities = For now 0-1500 CFM but later I woudl liek to examine high flow and look at sonic flow (For now however I am looking at standard type flows)

Temperatures - Well I have deatign systems that put out 200-250F so that is one end of the spectrum and for cooling I have systems putting out temperature in the 40F range.

PRessures?? I have no idea.
