Books for Basic Materisls Eng. Course

Any recommendations on the books for basic materials engineeirng course? I would like to consider DVD/Video to supplement the book/s. The audience will be manufacturing staff in a medium size, metal-based industry dealing with steels and other materials. Thanks.

I highly recommend ASM as well, specifically the Metallurgy for the Non-Metallurgist course. It is available as both a self-study course:

Try "The Science and Engineering of Materials" by Donald Askeland and Pradeep Phule.

I bought a copy of

Materials Science & Engineering
Giles F. Carter and Donald E. Paul

If they still have it, it might be an inexpensive place to start.
