Any recommendations on the books for basic materials engineeirng course? I would like to consider DVD/Video to supplement the book/s. The audience will be manufacturing staff in a medium size, metal-based industry dealing with steels and other materials. Thanks.

Thanks UncleSyd and TVP for your help. ASM was the first place I looked. I was mostly expecting info on other sources, if any.

Possibly "Introduction to Physical Metallurgy" by S.H. Avner.

*Assuming it's still in print.

Possibly "Introduction to Physical Metallurgy" by S.H. Avner.

The book is out of print.

Try "The Science and Engineering of Materials" by Donald Askeland and Pradeep Phule.

ASM had some close out books
I bought a copy of

Materials Science & Engineering
Giles F. Carter and Donald E. Paul

If they still have it, it might be an inexpensive place to start.
