I've just spent time projecting a curve on the complex surface of a pad, filled it, thickened it and now I want to subtract it from that underlying pad. It seems a boolean operation wont work unless there are two distinct part bodies. How can I separate my 'thicksurface' feature (which is sitting nicely just within the pad) so that I can subtract it?

In Part Design workbench, Insert a PartBody. Reorder your "Thick" surface after this new Part Body. Remove the new PartBody / Thich surface. Depending what children the Thick solid has, it may be necessary to reorder them too, to resolve Update errors.

Hello,

Select your ThickSurface, Right clic, Object, Insert in new...

Then select the Assemble boolean operation, Right clic, Object, Change to Remove
