Well, I recently installed NX4 on Windows 7 and came to the realization that I would have to install the FLEXnet licensing option on a networked computer running XP in order to work. Now I only have one problem/question. Since my license file is tied to my client machine via the MAC address, does this mean that I will have to get a new license file with the MAC address of the license server?

I think you do. Can you still get the online emergency license for a few days till they send you a new one. I'm sure John can confirm.

I'm not a licensing expert and have to admit that I live in a sort of 'fantasyland' when it comes to licenses since I can download my own personal copies anytime I need to and besides, since I run on a laptop my configuration is very simple as I don't need to connect to an external server for licensing (although I can optionally archive files to a corporate server for data protection).

As for getting a temporary (emergency) license, that is something that you need to work out with your CSR (Customer Service Representative), but I would expect that it shouldn't be a problem if everything is up-to-date.
