Hi everyone,

Reference AASHTO clause 5.8.3.6.3 (longitudinal reinforcement) for torsion:
AASHTO 2014 suggest to include portion of longitudinal PT as part of this longitudinal reinforcement requirement. Just want to know if anyone has ever used long PT in the calculations and how?
see attached pages from AASHTO
Thank you.

The 3D truss model of concrete beam torsion creates a demand for an axial restraining force. All you need to do is take your effective, excess prestress axial force as the source of some or all of that restraint.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
