hello colleagues, I try to model roof bars in sap2000 to reduce the lateral displacement of the structure but it adds a lot of rigidity to the model and they fail in compression, these are designed in traction and in my analytical model the selected diameter is correct and the displacement is greater from which the software throws. How can I include the roof arms and model them correctly in SAP2000, both for strength and stiffness?
About to the sap2000 guide I can include a compression limit and set it to 0 but it only works with non-linear analysis, my theory covers even static analysis, is it convenient to change the load patterns as well as the combinations for linear analysis or only the combinations are converted? Thanks.
