Hi all,
In developing a brain/skull model I have come accross issues defining my materials. Specifically, dura mater, pia mater, and the arachnoid layer. I have looked through various papers online but not found anything very helpful. I know other people on this site worked/are working on similar models and I was curious if anyone knows how to accurately represent these materials in Abaqus. The major result I will be getting from the simulation is strain data, which will eventually be used to improve diagnostic analysis for TBI cases in hospitals/doctor's offices.

Thanks,
Seth

I imagine TBI stands for traumatic brain injury. A I King et al. at Wayne State have done a lot of work on on FE simulations but I am not sure what their chosen brain material models were.

I am not sure if you are familiar with continuum mechanics but here's a thesis that should point you in the right direction (I am not sure if this is the right direction for you because it depends on your goals - immediate and/or long-term):

Thank you again IceBreakerSours, that is definitely extremely helpful for difining brain matter properties in the neural portion. Also, it explained brain/surrounding tissue composition very nicely but was lacking information regarding materials properties of those surrounding materials. If anyone has data on these tissues, I would still really appreciate seeing that.

Big Thanks,
Seth
