brake/shear

My company is in search for a new brake and shear. We need to shear 11ga. SS by approximately 5 in. wide, and also looking to bend 3mm SS and also be capable of bending 0 ga. mild steel. We mainly do piece work for custom machine modifications. However price is an issue. What would work best and what size shear would I need. Also what type of brake would work best a new box brake or a mech. or hydraulic. Thank you in advance for any response to this post.

The only good I can do for you is on the price issue. I bought a large hyd shop press from

in Canada and nobody came close on the price; and I shook the trees for months; due to a un-realistic budget constraint. It was well built, probably lower quality than say a Drake. RK sells brakes, shears, presses, punches.

Only one issue, didn't come wired for plugging into the wall, so we had to install cut-off, fuses, and cord. You can order it turn-key, just cost more.

Other than that, see if one of those multi-taskers lets you eliminate a machine; like a pirahna metalworker.

I would suggest an ironworker such as Piranha. If you are shearing strips to the 5" width you will need a shear and there should be used/new equipment available for that. Depending on the width of part you are forming will determine what type of forming machine you will need if the parts are relatively short say less than 18" the ironworker will work if it is longer than 18" then a pressbrake will be required and again there is plenty of used/new equipment.
